The top four finalists for the 2020 Heisman Trophy were announced on Thursday, and Alabama teammates DeVonta Smith and Mac Jones are favorites to win the award after a dominant 11-0 season capped by an SEC Championship victory and a trip to the College Football playoff.
Smith and Jones are joined by Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, who missed two games due to COVID issues and was unable to match his statistical production from a year ago, and Florida QB Kyle Trask, who led the nation in passing yards and touchdowns.
Smith was unstoppable for the Crimson Tide this season, and in his fourth year in Tuscaloosa set a new school record for career touchdown receptions. He led the nation with 1,511 receiving yards – 318 more than the next closest player. If he wins, he would be the first wide receiver to win the Heisman since Michigan’s Desmond Howard in 1991.

It's the first time a quarterback is not the favorite in the Heisman Trophy odds since 1991, as Alabama's wide receiver DeVonta Smith is the oddsmakers choice to win the coveted award.

Alabama, a program which surprisingly has had only a pair of Heisman Trophy winners in its storied history, looks to add another name to their storied legacy. Both previous winners were running backs: Mark Ingram (2009) and Derrick Henry (2015). This season, a third Crimson Tide player could join that list – although don’t expect it to be a running back this time around, it’s already been reported that current Alabama RB Najee Harris finished fifth in Heisman voting.

Moments after Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver DeVonta Smith took home the 2020 Heisman Trophy with 447 first place votes and 1,856 points, sportsbooks across the country released their futures odds for the award in 2021.
Rattler finished 8th amongst all FBS quarterbacks with 28 touchdowns, and was 10th in passing yards with 3,031. If selected, Rattler would become the third Oklahoma QB since 2017 to win the Heisman, following Baker Mayfield in 2017 and Kyler Murray in 2018.
The second-highest favorite on the board is Smith's teammate at Alabama: freshman quarterback Bryce Young. The first-year quarterback completed just two passes on four attempts his freshman season, but is set to take over for fellow Heisman candidate Mac Jones who finished third in points (1,130) behind Smith and Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence (1,187). Florida quarterback Kyle Trask finished fourth with 737 total points.

In each loss the offense failed to finish the game, with the Ducks failing to get a crucial first-down to clinch the game against the Beavers and failing to score a single second-half point against the Golden Bears.
And while next season remains a bit of a mystery at QB for the Ducks next season, Shough is the incumbent and presumed starter for a Joe Moorhead led offense. So, that counts for something!
After the College Football Playoff Championship Game where Alabama cruised to victory, 52-24, PointsBet revealed an updated list for the Heisman.
