The model says you should go under nine wins for the Green Bay Packers. In fact, after 10,000 simulations, the Packers average 8.1 wins, meaning they fail to meet their total by nearly a full game.
The Packers had an opportunity to add a dynamic weapon to an offense that lacked explosiveness despite making it to the NFC Championship Game, and that's what quarterback Aaron Rodgers thought he was getting when the franchise traded up in the 2020 NFL Draft. Instead, they selected Utah State quarterback Jordan Love.
Green Bay ranked ninth in total defense in 2019, with Preston Smith and Za'Darius Smith completely revitalizing the team's pass rush with 25.5 combined sacks. However, the offense held them back at times and finished last year ranked 15th in total offense and 18th in scoring.
Adding support for Rodgers, Aaron Jones and Davante Adams on that side of the ball, either in free agency or via the draft, would have put the Packers into a much better position to replicate their 2019 success. Instead, their biggest offseason addition was wide receiver Devin Funchess, who elected to opt out of the 2020 season because of the coronavirus pandemic. Now, the Packers will take on a first-place schedule and the model projects they'll struggle to get to their nine-win total.

The Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons meet Sunday in NFL action from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The Bears enter this matchup at 2-0 so far. Chicago took out the Lions 27-23 in the opener, then had another pretty crazy Week 2 victory 17-13 over the Giants. As for the Falcons, they’re 0-2 on the season. Atlanta fell 38-25 to the Seahawks in Week 1, then blew a huge lead versus the Cowboys and ended up losing 40-39. The Bears have been a precarious team in both their wins, but it’s worked out for the best so far. Chicago was down 23-6 heading into the fourth quarter versus the Lions in the season opener, but scored 21 unanswered points in that final period to power out an improbable win. Bears QB Mitch Trubisky had 242 yards and three touchdowns in that one after a slow start.
In the win over the Giants in Week 2, Chicago was up 17-0 at halftime but was outscored 13-0 after the break. The Bears still managed to hold on, despite a shaky 190 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions from Trubisky there. Running back David Montgomery did most of the heavy lifting, with 82 rush yards and three catches for 45 yards and a score.
Over on the Falcons’ side, not much has gone right this season. Atlanta was within one point of Seattle at halftime in the opener, but was outscored 24-13 the rest of the way. Falcons QB Matt Ryan finished with 450 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in that loss, and Todd Gurley rushed for 56 yards and a score.
The Week 2 game versus Dallas was an even bigger letdown for Atlanta. The Falcons jumped out to a 29-10 lead at halftime, but then imploded afterward. Atlanta was outscored 30-10 the rest of the way despite 273 yards and four TDs from Ryan. Gurley rushed for 61 yards in that one, and Calvin Ridley had 109 yards and two touchdowns from seven catches.
The Bears are 2-6 ATS in their last eight versus the NFC and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Chicago is 1-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Falcons are 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six games after an ATS win. Atlanta is 5-1 ATS versus a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the NFC.
Pick: Going Atlanta here. The Falcons are a better team than what they’ve shown so far, and the Bears have been overachieving to get out of some sticky situations. I think the Chicago defense keeps this one close initially, then Ryan and the gang break through late and pull away for Atlanta’s first win.

The Detroit Lions come into this one hunting for their first win after falling to 0-2 with a 42-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers in their last game. Matthew Stafford has thrown for 541 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions on 58.7% passing while Adrian Peterson has rushed for 134 yards on a team-high 21 carries. T.J. Hockenson has caught all 9 of his targets this season for a team-high 118 yards and a touchdown while Danny Amendola has 102 receiving yards on 14 targets and Quintez Cephus has 97 receiving yards. Defensively, Tracy Walker has a team-high 11 total tackles, including 9 solo tackles and 2 tackles for a loss while Will Harris and Jahlani Taval each have 10 totalt ackles this season, including 9 solo tackles for Harris.
The Arizona Cardinals will look to build on their 2-0 start to the year after a 30-15 win over Washington in their last game. I want to take the points with Detroit as I like Matt Patricia as a former Patriots coach and I like Matthew Stafford. The problem is that theres just not a lot to be excited about with the Lions and while these two tied in opening week last year, I expect a completely different result here. The Cardinals are fast, they’ve got Murray leading the charge under center, he’s hitting Hopkins like there’s no tomorrow and it’s paying off in the win column for the Cardinals. I just don’t see any answer coming from the Lions, so I’ll lay the points with the Cardinals in this one.

The Las Vegas Raiders face the New England Patriots on Sunday, September 27th at Gillette Stadium for week three of NFL football action.
The Las Vegas Raiders pulled off a big upset in their new stadium over the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in week two. The Raiders took down the Saints by the final score of 34-24, as their offense was rolling. The Raiders were not too sharp to start the game, as they were down 10-0 and 17-7 in the early stages. Derek Carr, Darren Waller and Josh Jacobs led the offense for Las Vegas the rest of the way. Carr was fantastic, throwing for 282 yards and three touchdown passes in the win. Las Vegas's offense was too much for a Saints defense that was lights out against Tom Brady and the Bucs. The Raiders are surprisingly 2-0 on the year, as they are currently tied with the Kansas City Chiefs for first place in the AFC West division.
The New England Patriots are coming off what winded up being a nail-biting loss to the Seattle Seahawks on the road on Sunday Night Football. The Patriots were down by double-digits in the fourth quarter, but somehow found a way to mount a comeback and make it a one-score game. Cam Newton and the Pats had the ball at the Seattle 1-yard line with only three seconds left in the game down 35-30, but Newton could not find his way in the end zone and the Patriots suffered their first loss of the season. The Patriots defense could not stop the passing game of Russell Wilson and the Seahawks in that game, as Wilson threw for five touchdown passes. The Patriots will have to be a lot sharper in the secondary if they want to take down a Raiders team that passed the ball all over the Saints on Monday night.
At first, I would have leaned with the Patriots at home here. After watching Monday Night's performance, I am going to take the Raiders and the points on the road. I think Las Vegas could be real contenders this season if their offense performs as it did in the first two weeks. The Raiders have a real shot of winning this game, but take the points just in case.
